About Amani Sodiq

Based between New York and Dallas, Amani creates work that centers intimacy, vulnerability, human connection, and play. The Nigerian-American photographer is self-taught, beginning her journey as a teenager when photography became a way to navigate the challenges of moving to a new country and discovering her place within it. Her experiences with mental health shaped her perspective, inspiring her to craft images that are deeply rooted in emotion, whether they carry joy, wonder, or melancholy.

She gravitates toward warm tones and soft, broad lighting, developing a visual language that feels personal and inviting. Moving fluidly between projects that are quiet and intentional and those that are bold and full of energy, Amani embraces the duality of stillness and celebration. Through this balance, her work reveals the many layers of the human experience.
